Background
Paliperidone palmitate is recommended as a treatment option for the maintenance treatment of schizophrenia in adult patients stabilised with paliperidone or risperidone and in selected adult patients with schizophrenia and previous responsiveness to oral paliperidone or risperidone, without prior stabilisation with oral treatment if psychotic symptoms are mild to moderate and a long-acting injectable treatment is needed where both of the following criteria are met;
• where treatment is in line with the recommendations within NICE CG178 for the use of depot or long-acting injectable antipsychotic medication and
• where treatment is in line with the Lancashire Care Guidance for Prescribing Second Generation Long Acting Antipsychotic Injections
